Tour Schedule - A CLOSER VIEW : RAJASTHAN

DAY 01: Arrive Delhi by International Flight.

  • Welcome to India – a land of million dreams and 5000 years of history, culture and religions, culminating in a unique blend of tolerance and is today the largest democracy in the World. New Delhi, India’s capital and fastest growing city, stands on the West bank of the Yamuna river.
  • Meeting and assistance at the airport upon arrival and transfer to hotel

  • Afternoon, combined sightseeing tour of the famous historical sights in Old & New Delhi, visiting the Raj Ghat – memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Drive past Red Fort (1639-48) built by the builder of The Taj Mahal – Shah Jehan; Jama Mosque – the largest mosque in India; Humayun’s Tomb (1565 AD), aptly called the predecessor of The Taj Mahal; the Qutab Minar (72 m high) – one of the most perfect towers of the Persian world. End the tour with a drive along the ceremonial avenue – Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House and President’s Residence.

DAY 02: DELHI-MANDAWA

  • Drive from Delhi to Mandawa (270 kms/6 hours).
  • On arrival check-in at:
  • Afternoon, sightseeing tour of the town Mandawa, which lies in the heart of Shekhawati. A painted arched gateway, adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows, leads to the bazaar.
  • You can wander through the streets, where mansions of rich merchants are adorned with elaborate frescoes.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03: MANDAWA-KHIMSAR

  • Drive from Mandawa to Khimsar (280 kms/6-7 hours).
  • On arrival check-in at:
  • Evening jeep safari to the desert.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04: KHIMSAR-JAISALMER

  • Drive from Khimsar to Jaisalmer (320 kms/7 hours).
  • On arrival check-in at : hotel
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 05: JAISALMER

  • Morning, sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer. It is in the heart of the Great Indian Desert. Its temples, fort and palaces are all built of yellow stone. The city is a mass of intricately carved buildings, facades and elaborate balconies. See the Patwon-Ki-Haveli, Salim-Singh-Ki-Haveli and Gandhi Sagar Tank.
  • Afternoon, visit the Sand Dunes. Take a camel ride on the sand dunes to view the sunset. The Rajasthani backdrop, the sunset and the camel ride make the entire outing an unforgettable experience.
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 06: JAISALMER-MANVAR

  • Drive from Jaisalmer to Manvar (170 kms/4 hours),
  • On arrival check-in at:
  • Afternoon jeep safari to visit Tribal Bishnoi villages to see desert wildlife, watch local craftsmen at work and enjoy the beautiful sand dunes.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 07: MANVAR-LUNI

  • Drive from Manvar to Luni (140 kms/3.5 hours) enroute visiting Jodhpur
  • Jodhpur – gateway to the desert beyond, home of the Rathors of Marwar. Visit the Fort, rising up a hilly scarp, built on the advice of a hermit, which overlooks the city in the image of a long sentinel. Inside the Fort are a number of palaces added by successive rulers.
  • Latter drive on to Luni to check-in at Fort Chanwa
  • Overnight at the fort.

DAY 08: LUNI-DEOGARH

  • Drive from Luni to Deogarh (142 kms/4 hours).
  • On arrival check-in at: Afternoon jeep safari in to the rugged countryside, nearby forest and lakes for the bird and nature lovers. Then walk through the little merchandising village where villagers buying and selling wares is an interesting sight.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 09: DEOGARH-UDAIPUR

  • Drive from Deoghar to Udaipur (135 kms/3 hours) enroute visiting Ranakpur.
  • A visit to the famous Jain Temple, dating back to the 15th century. It’s 29 halls are supported by 200 pillars, none of which are alike. The Temple abounds with intricate friezes and sculptures. Includes visits to two more Jain temples and the Temple of the Sun God with its erotic sculptures.
  • Continue your drive to Udaipur and upon arrival check-in at: hotel
  • Afternoon, sightseeing tour of Udaipur, stopping first at City Palace. Here you will marvel at rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, colored glass windows and inlaid marble balconies; and the Peacock Courtyard.
  • Also visit the lovely Sahelion-ki-Bari Gardens; the Jagdish Temple; and the local folk museum.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 10: UDAIPUR-DELHI

  • Transfer from hotel to the airport in time for:
  • Lv: Udaipur at 0000 hours by IC/9W
  • Ar: Delhi at 0000 hours
  • Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer from airport to hotel
  • Afternoon free for independent activities.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 11: DELHI-ABROAD

  • Transfer from hotel to the airport in time for:
  • Lv: Delhi by International Flight
